Built by Rao Karamsi, the 8th son of the Jodhpur founder in the 16th century, Khimsar Fort is a magnificent establishment. It is located on the Thar Desert and it seems as if it has risen from the desert itself. Initially the fort served as a ground for military activities and later it was converted into the royal residence of the royal family. Located only 45 km from Khimsar is the small town of Nagaur, which is famous for its annual Nagaur Fair. Celebrated in the month of January/February, Nagaur Fair is the second largest cattle fair of Rajasthan, where beautifully decorated cattle are brought.
